Work starts on new emergency services hub

Work has begun on a £1.45 million project to create the Isle of Man's first combined fire and ambulance station.

A sod-cutting ceremony on the land at Ronaldsway was carried out yesterday - by summer next year Castletown Fire Station and the Southern Ambulance Service will share a home.
 
The old ambulance base at Four Roads will become the new Port Erin Fire Station - which is more than 50 years old and doesn't meet current standards:
